Going it alone

Andrews says striking out on his own as a sole practitioner brought with it a range of challenges which he couldn’t always solve on his own.

“I had previously worked with Telstra in call centre management positions and with Searson Buck in the recruitment area but had always been attracted by the idea of working with people on a one-to-one basis to help them achieve their career goals,” Andrew explains.

“When the opportunity came along to establish my own coaching business I decided to go for it. I work mainly with people who are changing their jobs, looking for a career change or seeking a new direction. In working with clients, I often find there are personal issues in their lives, deep-rooted situations that they need more specialised help in dealing with before their workplace challenges can be addressed.

“I refer these clients on to Neil because as a qualified life coach he has the skills to help them identify the issues and find the answers that are right for them.

“On a personal level, I also find Neil is the ideal mentor for me to ensure I stay on track in meeting my own goals to establish a sustainable business and keep all the elements of my life in balance – family, study, work.

“If you’re a sole practitioner in business, having access to a life coach with Neil’s skills is vital. He helps to keep me focused and motivated, particularly at times when I may be feeling a bit alone and isolated. He keeps me on track as a person.”
